Lemmy Kilmister 1945-2015

If you are not familiar with Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister,  I strongly suggest you view Lemmy: The Movie.  There’s a lot to take away from his views on life and how to live it.  Sure he liked to drink and screw and play his video poker and was obsessed with WWII and loved to play music at unreasonably loud levels but there was a certain poetry to the way he lived his life and it’s all in the lyrics of his songs.  Here are a few tidbits that he left us with.  RIP Lemmy!

“Stay Clean”

So you see, the only proof,
Of what you are is in the way you see the truth,
Don’t be scared, live to win,
Although they’re always gonna tell you it’s a sin,
In the end, you’re on your own,
And there is no-one that can stop you being alone, Stay Clean.

“Ace Of Spades”

If you like to gamble, I tell you I’m your man,
You win some, lose some, all the same to me,

“Capricorn”

I always knew, the only way, Is never live, beyond today,

“(Don’t Need) Religion

Don’t need no time for prayer
Don’t save no knee-pads for me up there
If your head’s alright, ya don’t need binoculars to see the light
Ya don’t need no miracle vision
Bet your life you don’t need religion

“Rock ‘n’ Roll”

So that’s the story, what you see is what you get,
No doubt there’s better men than me
But I ain’t met one yet
No doubt the dancer calls the tune,
So you can call on me
I’m all I’ve got, and what I am is what I’ll be

The documentary is actually streaming on YouTube and you can watch it right now.  Enjoy!
