There’s a number of rock docs that are circulating around movie theaters and TV screens so be on the lookout for these 5 that are worth checking out.

Pussy Riot A Punk Prayer (HBO):  I’m not familiar with their music but the story about the power of music to affect change is timeless

 

Ain’t In It For My Health: A Film About Levon Helm (Theatres): The former drummer of The Band does it his way until the end

 

20 Feet From Stardom (theatres):  Never heard of Merry Clayton, Darlene Love or Lisa Fischer?  Hear their story and let Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen tell you how important they are.

 

Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me” (theatres):  The greatest rock band from the 70s.  Never heard of them?  You should.

 

A Band Called Death (Video On Demand): In the early 70s, before The Sex Pistols and Ramones, there were three black brothers from Detroit in a band called Death.
