The first album in four years by legendardy Americana artist Guy Clark finds him ruminating on his past love, specifically, his wife Susana Clark who passed away in 2012. The picture Guy holds up in the cover photo has a story behind it. Susanna walked in and found he and friend, the late Townes Van Zandt drunk, again. She stormed out of the house, which is when the Polaroid was taken.
Susanna wrote many songs including the country hit “San Antone Rose”.
Here’s Guy’s tribute to Susanna
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros had a number of songs ready to be included on last year’s album Here. Instead, the band held the songs back but still played them on tour. The bands notorious exhuburance during their shows helped them along taking on their own shape. the result is this self-titled album
Here they are playing a couple songs from the new record, “Better Days” and “They Were Wrong” and one from Here, “Man On Fire”
If you love the bands that wallow in noise like My Bloody Valentine or Sonic Youth then let me introduce you to Weekend (not to be confused with prep/alt band Vampire Weekend or R&B/Alt band Weeknd). This band from San Francisco likes its guitars loud and distorted and yet, it’s strangely intoxicating.
