Presidential Mixtapes

Happy Inauguration Day!  It has become de rigueur for Presidents to reveal what’s on their iPod or what playlist they’ve created on Spotify. I could not find an official White House Music Supervisor but there is no doubt that the Obama’s like Stevie Wonder’s, “Signed, Sealed Delivered (I’m Yours) as they both chose it as their opening songs for the Inauguration and Michelle’s Workout Mix.    Below is the 2013 Inauguration Day playlist as well as Michelle Obama’s playlist.  For you music historians I listed past president’s playlist too.

We did not have iPods in the Bill Clinton era but here’s a list he compiled of his favorites in 2009.   I guess the love of Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl”  is where President George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton can come together in agreement.

Note: I substituted Linda Ronstadt for Carly Simon.  Her version of “I Get Along Without You Very Well” was not available on Spotify.  Linda’s is a very fine version.  I think President Clinton would approve.
