You might not be able to judge a book by its cover, but I took one look at the album cover of Eleanor Friedberger‘s new album “New View” and because it reminded me of Neil Young’s Decade. I knew a would be in for a treat.
Judging be the first single, full of explosive guitars and Hammond organ flourishes I know this will be one to enjoy comparing and contrasting Eleanor’s vision with Neil’s.
This song is reminiscent of Neil Young’s “Winterlong” aka his Countrified Folk Rock Harvest phase.

For those that relate more to the Neil Young Crazy Horse catalog and like to crank it to 11, may i direct your attention to the latest from Savages. This London band’s second album “Adore Life” is filled with the intensity one would expect after hearing their debut “Silence Yourself”. I love this song which maintains their intensity while lead singer Jehnny Beth continuously declares that she “adores life”.
Savages really shine in a live setting and I can’t wait to hear this one. Hopefully they’ll play a Localchella show in between their Coachella shows in April.
