Mercury Prize Nominees 2015

The Mercury Prize

The Mercury Prize

Mercury Prize nominees were announced last week.  This year’s Mercury Prize shortlist includes seven debut albums and it celebrates artists from every stage of their careers”, says Simon Frith, Chair of Judges.

The Mercury Prize promotes the best of UK and Irish music and the artists who produce it. I look forward to these nominations as it gives me an opportunity to discover new acts that I haven’t yet discovered from across the pond.   It’s where I first heard about Young Fathers (2014 Mercury Prize winners), James Blake, Savages and recent Hollywood Bowl headliners, Alt J to name but a few. The winner will be announced on November 20.    In the meantime I’ve got some new music to check out.  Here are the nominees.
