Get Out

Stones Fest May 30, 2013Did you miss the Stones last week?  Good.  You’ve got $600 extra in your pocket and now you can see a few truly classic rock bands.

First, since you missed the Stones you head to the Fonda on Thursday for Stones Fest.  This is one of three fests (Petty, Dylan, Stones) that are being organized where current artists play the songs you love by your favorite band.  The artists playing this Thursday include; Phosphorescent, Butch Walker,  Juliette Lewis, Jason Sudeikis, Will Forte, Michelle Branch and many more including the always tantalizing line “many many more surprise guests!  Tickets are only $25 and 100% of the proceeds go to Sweet Relief.   Here’s Norah Jones and Hayes Carll doing a pretty good version of “Beast of Burden”, at least as good as Katy Perry with Mick.

Tom Petty & The HeartbreakersSpeaking of The Fonda & Petty Fest, I would be remiss if I did not mention that the actual Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will play 6 shows  there starting this Monday.  As you can imagine, tickets have been long gone but miracles have been known to happen, I’d keep my eye on Ticketmaster

Bjork at The Hollywood Bowl & Palladium June 2013One more icon is making her way to Los Angeles and she comes from a far away land, makes music that can sometimes baffle us mere mortals but in five years she should be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.  I talking about Bjork, playing three shows at the  Hollywood Palladium on June 2, 5 & 8 before concluding with a glorious blowout at The Hollywood Bowl on June 11.

Let’s come full circle and post PJ Havey with Bjork singing the Rolling Stones “Satisfaction”
