I’m still trying to get my head around the fact that David Bowie is not among us anymore. I was listening to his brilliant new album Blackstar during my jog this past weekend. I found the new album, inspiring, motivational and driving. It is perfect to get me to push myself in preparation for my 1/2 marathon. Now in light of finding out Bowie was battling an 18 month unwinnable war against cancer, the songs carry even more weight. I found inspiration to keep pushing myself as Bowie sang over and over on Dollar Days “I’m trying to, I’m dying to”. It felt motivating and in no way a reference to his own mortality.
The other Bowie song that inspires me is well known and the stanza that always gets me is this one…
Though nothing, will keep us together
We could steal time, just for one day
We can be heroes, forever and ever
What’d you say?
I say Bowie has been my hero and has helped me steal time for a lifetime. Thank you David Bowie
