Dazed and Confused light up

As the story on Wikipedia goes:

In 1971, a group of people in San Rafael, California, calling themselves the Waldos because “their chosen hang-out spot was a wall outside the school”, made a plan to search for an abandoned cannabis crop. The Waldos designated the Louis Pasteur statue on the grounds of San Rafael High School as their meeting place, and 4:20 p.m. as their meeting time. The Waldos referred to this plan with the phrase “4:20 Louis”. Several failed attempts to find the crop eventually shortened their phrase to simply “4:20”, which ultimately evolved into a codeword that the teens used to mean marijuana-smoking in general.

Yes, due to some fuckups failing to find weed we now have a national holiday…of sorts.

And what’s a holiday without songs to celebrate?

It’s a holiday all music genres can embrace, so here are my favorites from various genres.

Folk

Little Feat – Willin’

a three course meal of “weed, whites and wine…”

Classic Rock

Fraternity Of Man – Don’t Bogart That Joint

“Rooooooooolllllllll another one…” from the movie Easy Rider

Big Band

Cab Calloway – Reefer Man

“If he said he swam to China, and he sell you South Carolina
then you know your talkn’ to that reefer man”

Pop/Hip Hop

Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa ft. Bruno MarsĀ – Young, Wild and Free

So what we get drunk, so what we smoke weed, we’re just having fun, we don’t care who sees”

Metal

Black Sabbath “Sweet Leaf”

“My life is free now, my life is clear
I love you sweet leaf, though you can’t hear”

Reggae

The Toyes “Smoke Two Joints”

“I smoke two joints and then I smoke two more”

Soul

Rick James – Mary Jane
“I’m in love with Mary Jane, she’s my main thang”

Country

Willie Nelson – Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die (Snoop Dogg, Jamey Johnson, Kris Kristofferson)

When I get my wings and it’s my time to fly
Call my friends and tell ’em
There’s a party, come on by
Now just roll me up and smoke me when I die.
