Did you have fun last month at Coachella? Can’t wait to go again? Well that’s what the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is hoping because they’re putting tickets on sale for the weekend of April 12-14 and April 19-21. That’s in 2013.
They’re hoping to rope in your 2012 entertainment dollars for a weekend in April 2013. So if you’re buying 2 tickets (the maximum allowed) and let’s say you will not be camping because you’re not that crazy. Coachella wants 20% of the $349 up front. That’s $139.60 deposit for the two tickets and that leaves $558.40 still due. They want payments from you for the next 7 months so that is $79.77 a month from July-January 2013. I’m not including options for VIP ($799), VIP Parking ($150), camping ($85 per person) or Shuttle ($80).
Sure Coachella is great but here are some other options to do with your entertainment dollars in 2012.
May-June 2012 2 tickets $141.80
If you missed him at Coachella in 2008, you can now see Roger Waters perform this classic album in its entirety. You probably know all the words too.
You know who hasn’t played Coachella and is still cool in maybe a detached, ironic way? Barry f’n Manilow, that’s who. He’s playing three nights at The Hollywood Bowl during the week of Independence Day. Throw in fireworks and you can’t get any more American for the $15 price tag. Come and get to know your fellow Fanilow.
Andrew Bird (Coachella class of 2007 and 2012)/Sharon Van Etten (still yet to play Coachella) at The Greek on August 12. Two of my favorite indie artists share a night under the stars. This will be one not to miss. Cheap tickets are available for under $30.
Wilco at The Hollywood Bowl The greatest American band playing today steps into the big leagues with this show on September 30. Have a picnic and sit in the back and enjoy the show for $25
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. It’s Fun, Free and in Frisco. Totally worth spending your entire October weekend here.
I’m hoping “Book Of Mormon” tickets will be available. It’s running from September 5-
November 25. Tix on sale soon.
December-January Combine both for a New Year’s Eve show with Idina Menzel (from Wicked) at the Walt Disney Hall
Now you have some money to spend for 2013. Enjoy!
